In 1992 Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations were introduced to improve conditions for all employees who work with Visual Display Units (VDUs) and for employees that require safety glasses.
What does this mean for your business?
The welfare of your employees' eyesight is your responsibility. The vision express Corporate Eyecare scheme can ensure that your legal requirements are met, whilst offering a benefit that many employees value highly as part of their employee benefits scheme. Your company is obliged to provide the following for employees who regularly use VDU (computer) screens at work:
- A full eye test from a qualified Optometrist at a discounted rate of €15.
- If glasses are required for VDU work your employee can obtain a pair of complete glasses with scratch resistant single vision coated lenses, from two price ranges €39 or €59 (T&C's apply)
- Free on site visual acuity tests meaning only employees who qualify for a full eye test under HSE regulations get vouchers issued.
- Subsequent eye tests at regular intervals as specified by the examining Optometrist (normally every 2 years)
