Putting children first
Vision Express has selected the Temple Street Foundation as one of its five charity partners.
Vision Express are proud supporters of Temple Street Children’s Hospital, Ireland's National Centre for Paediatric Ophthalmology.
The National Children’s Eye Centre at Temple Street provides an ophthalmic service to children from all over Ireland from birth to early teens. They have over 14,000 out-patient visits and over 1,000 in-patient visits each year.
Apart from Temple Street's general eye clinics they have a number of sub-specialist eye clinics to cater for children attending with complex eye disease including cataracts, glaucoma, retinopathy of prematurity and eye tumours which in the past led to blindness.
Temple Street relies heavily on fundraising to purchase state of the art equipment so that it can continue to provide the children with an internationally acceptable standard of treatment.
Over the last two years, Vision Express employees have fundraised by offering donation-only frame repairs at every store, tackling half marathons, holding a sell-out comedy night in Dublin, selling Easter Egg raffle tickets and baking their way towards their target. In total, Vision Express have raised over €30,000 for Temple Street Ophthalmology Department, allowing them to purchase vital equipment and continue to provide world class care.
When taken proper care of, your vision can last a lifetime. Children and teenagers under the age of 16 get free eye tests at Vision Express and we have especially tailored the entire process towards pre-school kids, so the examination is quick and fun. The average person should be getting their eyes tested once every two years.
